Anny Hwang – Pianist & Cultural Ambassador

German pianist Anny Hwang, born to Asian parents and raised in Saarland, discovered her musical calling early on through enthusiastic responses at competitions and scholarships. Her accolades include: First Prize at the International Youth Accomplishment in Seoul, South Korea, First Prize at Jugend Musiziert (National Level, Piano Solo), Rotary Youth Music Prize Friedrichshafen-Lindau, International Grotrian-Steinweg Competition and many more.

She is a multiple-time recipient of the Carl-Heinz Illies scholarship from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, as well as the 2008 Lichtblick Saar and Saarbrücker Casinogesellschaft scholarships. In 2011, she was awarded the Ottilie Selbach-Redslob Foundation scholarship in Berlin.

Since 2019, Anny Hwang has been an official Steinway Artist, and in 2022, she was named an Ambassador by the prestigious Henle Verlag.


While still in high school, she studied with Prof. Kristin Merscher at HfM Saar and Prof. Karl-Heinz Kämmerling at the Mozarteum Salzburg. She continued her studies at the University of the Arts Berlin and CNSMDP Paris with Jacques Rouvier, earning her diploma and the advanced degree Konzertexamen in 2017.

She received further artistic inspiration from renowned musicians including Arie Vardi, Alfredo Perl, Bruno Rigutto, Anatol Ugorski, Lilya Zilberstein, Pascal Devoyon, and Itamar Golan.


Anny has performed with leading orchestras across Europe, Asia, and North America, including:

Anny is passionate about interdisciplinary collaboration across artistic genres. Her project AnnyTime has been featured in acclaimed TV portraits produced by SR Kulturspiegel-TV in cooperation with ARD and broadcast internationally.


Committed to music education, she leads initiatives like „Klassische Musik macht Schule“ / „Classical Music Goes to School“ and offers masterclasses at institutions such as:

HfM Dresden, Ewha University Seoul, Seoul National University of Education…

Many of her students have won national and international competitions.


Anny Hwang was honored with the Special Prize from the Saarland Minister of Culture and named Saarland Super Ambassador. In 2014, she was entered into the Golden Book of Saarbrücken-Dudweiler.

Her multicultural background and deep interest in global cultures are reflected in her ability to speak seven languages.
